Introduction to the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment:
The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) is an accreditation body approved and designated by the State Administration for Market Regulation—Certification and Accreditation (CNCA), in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Certification and Accreditation.” CNAS provides unified accreditation services for relevant organizations, including certification bodies, laboratories, and inspection agencies.
The CNAS Secretariat is located at the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, which is affiliated with the State Administration for Market Regulation. It engages solely in accreditation-related activities and does not provide any services that could compromise the impartiality of accreditation.
The National Accreditation System of China for Conformity Assessment holds an important position in international accreditation activities. Its accreditation practices have been integrated into the international mutual recognition system and play a significant role therein. The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment is a full member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), and the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC). As of January 1, 2019, PAC and APLAC merged to establish a new regional accreditation cooperation organization—the Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC).
